Tour of Fort Erie’s Safari Flower Co.

• But who’s Safari Flower Co? I don’t see that on your menu.

It’s true. You won’t see any Safari Flower co. package at the O.C.S. or at any of our stores. There’s a good reason for that. They’re a licensed B2B craft cannabis producer. This means they grow and sell to brands like the ones on our menu, maybe even for some of your favourite LPs. You may be a fan of one already and have no idea that it was made right here in Niagara. 

Neat, right? We were lucky enough to get a tour of the facility and learned a little more about them. Here’s what we found out. 

They built the Safari Flower co. facility with the purpose to grow cannabis. That means they can ensure the utmost control over things like light pollution and odour. It also hugely helps maintain consistency with their products and... keeps the neighbors happy.

They grow their plants out of 10 small rooms, each capable of growing no more than 100 kilos (the size of a micro-cultivator license.) This allows them to be craft but craft at scale. Everything moves like clockwork. Two-week propagation and vegetation phase to let the plants grow to size. Then a 60-to-65-day flower. Every room has plants currently in a different part of the process, so you can really get a good look at how they progress. Because every room is craft-sized, most processes (i.e. harvest, trim, package) can be performed in a single day. This continues to promote consistency across the entire crop.
